इस exam के ज़रिये candidates को तीन categories me qualify kiya jata hai:
- Category 1 – JRF & Assistant Professor
JRF fellowship milegi + Assistant Professor ke liye bhi eligible. - Category 2 – Assistant Professor & Ph.D. Admission
JRF नहीं मिलेगा, par Assistant Professor aur Ph.D. ke liye eligible. - Category 3 – Ph.D. Admission Only
Sirf Ph.D. admission ke liye valid, JRF ya Assistant Professor ke liye नहीं।

Exam Computer Based Test (CBT) hoga, duration 3 hours (180 minutes).
Paper me 3 sections (Part A, B, C) hote hain:
- Part A – General Aptitude (reasoning, numerical, data interpretation).
- Part B – Subject-related conventional MCQs.
- Part C – Higher order & analytical questions (scientific concept application).
